Stage 1 Studio 2, Galeri, Tuesday 6 April 2010 from 10.00am - 5.00pm
A programme no longer than 15 minutes duration: own choice to include Sonata No. 3 by John Parry, from "Four Lessons for Harp or Harpsichord" (Published by Adlais).

Stage 2 (Final) Theatr, Galeri, Wednesday 7 April 2010 from 2.30pm
One piece may be repeated from Stage 1. A balanced programme no longer than 25 minutes duration, including one work written since 1950 by a Welsh composer.

LOAN HARPS
Any make / model of pedal harp can be used for the Youth Competition and the organisers will make every reasonable effort to make available whatever harp has been requested on the entry form. Camac will supply many harps which will be available for practice from Saturday 3 April 2010.

PRACTICE ROOMS
There are 7 rooms available in Galeri. Every competitor will be allocated practice and pre-event warm up time. A timetable will be available before the Festival.

THE COMPETITORS

RULES OF COMPETITIONS
(a) All competitions are open to harpists of any nationality.
(b) There is no minimum “cut off” age for any of the competitions i.e. a competitor is free to enter any class provided he / she is under the required age as stated in this syllabus.
(c) Harpists may compete in more than one category, but must pay £30 entry fee for any further competition(s).
(d) The decisions of the jury are final and binding, and cannot be challenged. The competition organisers reserve the right not to award prizes if the standard is not sufficiently high in the opinion of a majority of the members of the jury.
(e) Before the Festival commences, competitors’ names will be drawn by an independent panel to decide on the order of performance. This order will then be followed at every stage.
(f) Competitors may bring their own harps, or apply for the loan of an instrument. The organisers cannot guarantee to find the exact style and make of the harp requested, but every attempt will be made to satisfy the request, which must be specified on the application form.
(g) The deadline for receiving entries is January 20th 2010.
(h) CD, MP3, or cassette (for competitions 1 and 5)  : a recent recording  5 – 10 minutes duration of the competitior’s own choice. Note for Competition 1 There is no fixed number of first round places and the organisers will make time for all deserving candidates. The requested recording is not a form of pre-selection, but is part of a detailed application that is accepted as normal for competitions of this level.

For Stage 2: A recital of 25 minutes including one work written since 1950 by a Welsh composer. The following is a list of possible harp solos and are suggestions only. It is not an exclusive list and any other work will be acceptable provided it was written since 1950 by a composer from Wales.
